This course deals with various approaches to language teaching and learning in general and English language teaching in particular. It traces the developments and principles of major teaching approaches including:the Grammar Translation Method, the Direct Method, the Audiolingual Method, the Natural Approach, the Total Physical Response, Communicative Language Teaching, CBI and CLIL, Task Based Language Teaching, and Cooperative Language Learning. This course also discusses the recent developments of English language learning and teaching in post methods era and the implementation of English language learning and teaching in non-English speaking countries, especially in Indonesia.
