Political Communication

This course covers theories, main concepts, strategies and research issues in political communication, applying into the context of modern democracy, specifically on the Indonesia’s liberal democracy after the authoritarian’s downfall. Topics such as political marketing, branding, electoral campaign, elections, media and politics, new media and civic activism, public opinion and electoral behavior are discussed. At the end of the course students are mandated to work in a group to work on a project producing political campaign and applying the concept they have learned, such as branding, positioning, political narration, and social media are blended to yield attractive political campaigns
