This course provides a rigorous reading training that will increase students’ familiarity with scientific articles from journals, in particular the secondary research articles, and enhance their reading fluency, skill and meta-cognitive and cognitive reading strategies. The topics of the selected articles are related to issues in English language teaching and learning. The reading materials and exercises given in this course are designed to train students to various reading strategies which will enable them to comprehend expository, argumentative, and compare and contrast scientific articles, and identify the main features of each genre.
